Contemporary artists of the calibre of Sharon Brindle are rarely seen in Jersey. Sharon was trained at the Camberwell School of Art and has been shown in prestigious London galleries including The Fine Art Society in New Bond Street. She has also been featured by The National Portrait Gallery and has been shown at The Royal Academy and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters. Locally, three years ago she was the invited judge for the JJ Fox competition.
Sharon Brindle’s work revolves around her exploration of the essential space which surrounds us all. It is about light, shadow and volume and she has chosen the human form as the comparative object with which she makes those comparisons. Her work is classical, timeless and so sensitive that it makes the reading of her exploration easy for the viewer, yet holds one’s attention through its sheer beauty.
The other side of Sharon Brindle is her integrity. She is totally uncompromising about subjects that interest her. There is always an aspect of looking at space and our relationship with it in her work. This exhibition is intellectually as powerful as it is accomplished. Her work is for the time being still on the cusp of serious recognition, but I am delighted to have this return exhibition of Sharon’s recent paintings and drawings at Falle Fine Art.
