Patrick Malacarnet has put together a beautiful collection of his paintings of parts of Jersey which are off the beaten track. He has managed to achieve through great sensitivity and fidelity to nature, work which is recognisable as a specific place, even where there is no land mark reference. In other words, through observation, it is possible feel the sense of a place by recognising particular sky and cloud colouring, or the behaviour of water alone, or the foreshore on a particular beach. Patrick has taken the inspiration he derives from nature, to include in this collection, a series of totally unmolested old Jersey buildings, with the same care he devotes to his coastal work.

It is an important record of fast disappearing Jersey and the island is in his debt for having given us what must almost certainly be the final opportunity to reflect with accuracy on the nostalgia of our vernacular architecture before it is lost for its building granite.

The exhibition is Patrick Malacarnet’s first solo show with Falle Fine Art and I am delighted to welcome him. It is open to the public from Wednesday 19th to Saturday 29th September. All the paintings are for sale.
